Hey All ,

This is my first ever blog post and it is going to be based on the new movie little women which came out in 2019. Although there have been a few versions of little women my first time seeing or hearing of it was only recently and it was the 2019 version in which I saw. The movie was heart warming, emotional and had me leaving the cinema with a different outlook on many things in life. This blog is not going to be based on the characters or the way the movie itself was filmed but instead it is going to be based on the morals and story behind the film itself.

The reason for Little Women being my first blog post is that Jo Marsh one of the main characters reminded me of myself. She is an inspired writer who went out of her way to reach her writing goals and like me she has a passion for writing. Her motivation and drive through out the whole movie was my reason and inspiration for starting this blog in the first place.

Before you continue reading I must warn you that there may be a few spoilers ahead...such as when Beth the youngest sister passes away it most definitely pulls on the heart strings. As someone who has two sisters I could not imagine losing one of them. A sister is a friend for life and there is no bond that could compare to a bond with a sister. It is indeed a special one. The original creator of the story Louisa May Alcott creates the story in a clever way that the audience or reader assume and think that it is the father who is at war is the one who is going to pass away therefore when Beth gets ill and passes away yet the father survives it is a major shock to the audience. Sisterhood is one of the main topics of the movie which is why it hit home for me as much as it did. The scene when Jo and Amy are arguing but Amy faces a near death experience by falling through the ice is a scene that really makes you realise how short life can be , how anything can be gone in an instant and how staying mad at someone for too long is something that you will eventually regret. Life is too short to stay angry, mad or upset with someone.

Another main topic in Little Women is love. Yes the cliché romance and love is going to be discussed. Jo faces major confusion about her feelings towards Lorrie when he asks her to marry her. However the irony is that Jo realises when it is too late. Jo comes to terms with her feelings and desire to be with him when it is too late. She soon finds out that her sister Amy betrayed her by marrying Lorrie and coming home from Europe with him. Yet Jo and her head strong, happiness and joyous personality is shown towards Amy. This describes Jo as a character completely as she puts on a mask and creates this happy persona to ensure that everyone is happy. Sometimes we ourselves go through life like that too. We do not let anyone see our true and real feelings other then out close friends and family. There is a very heart warming and deep scene between Jo and her mother. They have a heart to heart which again is another emotional scene (yes bring tissues to the cinema!)
Despite Amy betraying Jo it actually as a matter of fact works out for the better! Jo, with the help of her sisters comes to realise that she is in love with a man she has known for a while in New York.

The fact that the movie ends with Jo finding the love she has always wanted states that everything really does happen for a reason. If you make life choices too fast they may not work out the way you expect them to. Where as if you wait things out and not settle for less it could actually work out for the better which also makes you question about certain situations you have faced in live and makes you question "did you go too fast or did you wait things out in life?".

To conclude this review I figured I would leave you with my favourite quote from Little Women by Jo Marsh "if I was a girl in a book this would all be easy".

I hope you enjoyed!
Much love xxx
